How do I start a Club?
For students to sign up for your club, you will need to make sure that they know about it! There are many ways to advertise. Such as including it in announcements, putting up posters, or giving out flyers.
You will now need a way for students to sign up for the club. This can be as easy as filling out a form and turning it in, or having a online signup page. Keep in mind that running a club comes with costs. It may be necessary to include a signup fee depending on your school’s budget.
Hey we can cover you on this!
It was a little bit of work, but now your school is ready to begin their 1st day!
What are some important Chess items we might need?
The Chess board is made up of 64 squares in a 8 x 8 grid. This is the arena that you and your opponent’s pieces face off!
Your army consists of 6 different pieces. These are the King, Queen, Rook, Knight, Bishop, and Pawn. Each side should have 16 pieces, making 32 pieces total.
Notation is the act of recording your moves in a game of Chess, so that it can be reviewed at a later time. Notation sheets are specifically designed to make this task easier.
A Chess Clock is a device that is used to restrict the amount of time each player can use in a game. This prevents games from dragging out too long!
“Chess Clubs” are after or before school sessions for large groups of students to learn from a experienced instructor, and to play others in a friendly environment. This will allow players to get plenty of practice with their game play and of course have the resource of the instructor to guide students to a better understanding of the game.
“In-Class Chess” is a new school program. It is purposed with introducing Chess to students in individual classes. A instructor will drop in and teach any class whether it is Kindergarten, 1st, or 2nd grade, etc. Students will gain the knowledge of decision making and planning at an early age with our “In-Class Chess” program! Available during the 2018-2019 school year.
