State Qualifying Tournaments

IMG_1125Bellingham Youth Chess also puts on it’s own large tournaments! How tournaments work is players of all skill levels will come together to an event location and play games with each other. This is a great opportunity for your child to play competitively and receive trophies and prizes!

Tournament games are rated, which means when you play that game you will receive a “rating”. Which is a number given to your child to show their skill level. The higher the number the better the presumed skill! Rated games effect the rating of your child. For example if you lose games your rating will go down, and if your child wins games their rating will go up! All ratings are done through NWSRS (http://www.ratingsnw.com/). If your child does not have a rating they will receive one for free after attending a rated tournament.
